I’ll be popping up in Gee’s Bend for the annual Airing of the Quilts Festival, one of Alabama’s most remarkable gatherings of art, craft, community, and place.

I’ll be bringing a nourishing spread from Abadir’s for the day — seasonal soups, salads, sandwiches, and wholesome baked goods, along with a few other things to eat while you wander, quilt-shop, visit with friends, and take in everything Gee’s Bend has to offer.

The Airing of the Quilts is a really special day: quilts made by the women of Gee’s Bend are hung outside and throughout the community, transforming the landscape into a living exhibition of one of America’s most important quilting traditions. It’s a beautiful excuse to make the trip down, spend some time in Gee’s Bend, and eat something good while you’re there.
